HIGHLAND SHOW RESULTS
Congratulations to Gilbert Black Guard, they scored a 55.80 (first place) in the Scholastic
Open class at the Highland Show on Jan. 30th.
UNIFORM UPDATE
If you have an hour or so to spare next Thursday @ 5:30pm, we could really use your help in
putting the band uniforms back together for each student. They have come back from the
dry cleaner and need to have the tops & bottoms matched together. Please contact Laura
Bargren if you can help out.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR GUARD & DRUMLINE
Winter fees for guard and drumline are now past due. In order for students to remain in the
programs, ALL unpaid winter fees MUST be paid before Saturday’s competition @ Mesquite.
Uniform costs, including shoes are NOT part of the fees.
Uniform deposits are now past due for Winter Guard and Drumline. Uniform deposits MUST
be paid by Saturday’s competition @ Mesquite in order for your student’s uniform to be
ordered. Before receiving a uniform the remainder of the cost must be paid in full.

Time Line for Mesquite Show Sat. Feb 6th:
Attire: show t-shirt, jeans. NO flip flops. Bring sunscreen & water
2:00 pm @ Mesquite HS, unload (bring brooms)
3:00 pm set up/warm up/stretch/tune drums/set up electronics
5:00 snack break
6:17 final run
6:47 pm Gilbert performs

DRUMLINE GARAGE SALE: Friday & Saturday, Feb. 26th & 27th. Do you have gently used
items that you would like to donate? Please ask your friends, family and neighbors if they
would like to donate items to this good cause, the more items we have to sell, the more
successful this fundraiser will be. Please contact Julie Weber if you have any donations or would like to help work the garagesale. Julie does have a truck available for pick up of large items.

GBB BOARD INFO
GILBERT BAND BOOSTERS are the parent organization that supports the Gilbert High Band
programs. We are looking for parents interested in being on the board next year, June 1,
2010 to May 31, 2011. Boosters meet monthly and help with fundraising, uniforms, PR and
website, trips and band camp, football games, social events, band finances, drumline and
guard support, equipment and trailer maintenance, and more! If you are interested in being
on the board, or helping in any capacity, please contact Lance Libby, Band Director or Kim
Cahalan, Booster President by March 1.
FUNDRAISING
The GHS Winter Show March 20th. This is an indoor guard and drumline show that we host.
This is our biggest winter fundraiser and we will need your help. Please contact Sheri Pierce to let her know you would like to volunteer. All parents of students participating in the winter programs are expected to work the show in some capacity. It is a great opportunity to come out and see some of the groups our kids compete against while helping out our guard and drumline as well.
COUNTRY THUNDER: Like country music? How about outdoor concerts? Well then we have a
fundraiser you won’t want to miss. Country Thunder Fundraiser is April 14-18 in Florence,
AZ. If you would like to work this fundraiser, please contact Robin Norcutt. Please note this event is in Florence, you are responsible for your own transportation. The pay will be an hourly wage, the amount is not yet confirmed.
Information on the number of shifts available and scheduling to come very soon. You must
be at least 16 to work this fundraiser.

2010 TAX CREDITS. For individual credit, our treasurer, Jen, will need a COPY of your receipt.
Put student name and “band”, etc. at the bottom of the tax credit. YOU CAN PAY THROUGH
THE GILBERT PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEBSITE!
WE KNOW YOU HAVE TO EAT...ARE YOU USING GROCERY CARDS AND ESCRIP to earn money
towards individual band fees? Fry’s are rechargeable gift cards with 4-6% paid out January
and August towards fees. Can also be used to purchase gift cards for restaurants, shops,
etc.. Contact Rhonda Gatenby to purchase Fry’s cards. Safeway escrip percentage based on
amount spent towards fees contact Elaine Huttl.
FRY'S COOL CASH! Download a bar code from band website and take to Fry's to link to your
“VIP” card (not your gift card) for a percentage paid to the band general fund.
GAME – GILBERT ADVOCATES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION
